Introduction To The Overlocker
- Duration: 3 Hours
- Location: Sydney, NSW
Feeling daunted by the thought of tackling an overlocker? You're not alone. But fear not – our small group overlocker class is here to demystify the process and empower you with the skills and confidence to make the most of this fabulous machine.
If you own an overlocker, feel free to bring it to the class. If you don't own an overlocker, you can borrow one of ours.
Throughout the session, we'll guide you through every step of the way, starting with plenty of practice on threading. With multiple opportunities to get it just right, you'll soon feel at ease with this essential aspect of using your overlocker.
We'll delve into the versatility of overlocking with both 3 and 4 threads, explaining the 'why' behind each technique. From creating traditional wide hems to mastering narrow hems and even rolled hems (if your machine allows).
You'll learn how to balance the tension for impeccable stitching and discover how to adjust the cutting knife's position, including lowering it completely for specific tasks.
Maintaining your machine is crucial for optimal performance, so we'll also cover essential cleaning and upkeep tips to keep your overlocker running smoothly.
Please note, overlockers differ from sewing machines, and each brand and model is unique. While our class covers the essentials, it's important to note that certain features may vary depending on factors like brand, model, and age.
Additionally, it's worth noting that this class does not focus on completing a specific project. Instead, our primary goal is to help you become comfortable and confident in using your own overlocker machine. By the end of the session, you'll have gained valuable skills and knowledge to effectively manage your machine.
To ensure everyone gets the most out of the class, we kindly ask that your overlocker has been serviced or purchased within the last 12 months.
Don't let your overlocker gather dust – join us and find out why overlockers are an asset to your sewing projects!
